Service Description

This workshop will provide you with individual guidance to create a custom brooch. You will be given a selection of material to create your own hand-embellished couture brooch, a little piece of art for any outfit and occasion. You will be given a selection of colour variations that will help you customise this 'Sparrow Brooch' for your favourite outfit! What you will learn: How to create raised embroidery. How to appliqué and couch. How to embellish with beads and metal thread. How to attach your work onto a brooch pin closure and complete the product. About Era By Eranga: Sydney based Fashion and Textile designer Eranga Bandaranayake founded ERA, her luxury fashion label in 2010. Originally from Sri Lanka, she graduated with a specialisation in Textile/Fashion. Migrating to Australia, she completed her Master in Design from UNSW with a passion for the art of embroidery and digital technology. Inspired by nature and fascinated by structural forms and textures, Eranga frequently uses three-dimensional embroidery techniques and mixed media, utilizing tonal colours, attention to detail and exquisite hand craftsmanship. She has an avant-garde design style that evokes empowerment to the wearer while testing the barriers and boundaries of the modern world of fashion design. Eranga has won the prestigious Hand and Lock Bronze award for the prize for embroidery 3 times. The jury for this award is composed of the embroidery world’s elite from London College of Fashion, Royal school of Needlework, Embroiders Guild and V&A Museum. Date: Sunday 18 October Time: Meet at 7 Clovelly Road Randwick at 10am. Workshop will conclude at 3pm, with a 1 hour break for lunch Cost: $145 Level: This class is suitable for all levels of stitching experience. You Get: Expert tuition from Eranga Bandaranayake A kit that includes everything you need to complete the project - An appliqué, felt, rayon thread, metal thread, cotton thread, beads, needles, one brooch pin closure An instruction sheet Notes: Please either bring your own lunch or you can purchase lunch from one of the nearby cafes. This is a small event with a maximum of 8 places. Full payment is required to hold your place. As supplies are ordered specifically for this event, there are no refunds for change of mind If the event cannot go ahead due to government regulations it will be rescheduled. 7 Clovelly Road follows strict COVID precautions.
